SASC Trust: Providing resources to tackle homelessness and make positive change

Our Purpose and Vision

SASC Trust is an independent charity and grant-making foundation (registered in England and Wales under number 1176848). Funded by returns generated by investments made by Social and Sustainable Capital, SASC Trust partners social sector organisations, to identify and scale lasting solutions to homelessness.

SASC Trust’s vision is that those experiencing and working to tackle homelessness have sucient resources to make positive change – delivering solutions with and for those facing immediate need, whilst also using their expertise and insight to help identify and prevent the underlying causes of homelessness.

SASC Trust has an independent Board of Trustees who are responsible for the governance of the charity, and who oversee its activities and partnerships.

The charity’s grant-making practices are rooted in its values:

We believe in better

We have a strong commitment to a fairer and more equitable society – and we believe it is possible.

We are committed to the social sector and recognise the strength and expertise of those who work with and alongside it.

We are not wedded to what has gone before so work in partnership with others to help imagine and realise new solutions.

In our own practice, we aim to be an exemplar funder – minimising bureaucracy, providing flexibility and recognising with humility our contribution to our partners’ impact

We listen to learn

We have a strong commitment to dialogue and co-creation. It is only by listening that we can learn, only by partnering that we can achieve impact.

We hold hypotheses lightly, actively seeking the evidence and insight we need to ensure we are as impactful as possible.

We believe that solutions emerge from dialogue and that what we learn with and from our partners is a vital part of what we gain from our funding relationships.

We move at pace

We are aware of how acute the crisis of homelessness is and how urgently solutions are needed. We provide financial support to organisations who are providing support to those who need it now. By learning from our partners’ frontline work, we hope to also identify and play a role in addressing the underlying causes of homelessness, helping to eradicate it forever.

In our own practice, we keep our processes simple and our decision making clear and timely, minimising the time our own requirements take from charities to enable them to keep moving at pace too.
