SASH funding will enable Thrive to acquire up to 20 properties in Neath Port Talbot, to provide safe and suitable move-on accommodation for women and their children.

Via their inclusive residential services, Thrive aims to modernise, innovate and transform accommodation support services for individuals and families fleeing domestic abuse. Housing and support provide a haven for women, children and young people, helping them to regain their independence in safe communities.

SASH-funded properties will be used as second stage move-on accommodation for women and their children impacted by domestic abuse and leaving refuge accommodation. Individuals and their families move-on from refuge accommodation when their risk level is reduced and they can be safely supported from the community. Thrive will be providing tenants with bespoke specialist support alongside the accommodation, to help them rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic abuse.

The SASH-funding will allow Thrive to purchase up to 20 move-on properties. Each property will be self-contained, and will house one woman, some individually and some with children.

The funded properties will help address the shortage of move-on accommodation in Neath Port Talbot, which is currently contributing to ‘bed blocking’ of refuge accommodation. Thrive’s expansion under the SASH facility supports Thrive’s wish to meet visible demand from women and their children in the area, with self-contained properties providing more independent living and privacy than communal space.
