Social and Sustainable Capital (SASC), has expanded its investment team with the appointment of Jorge Llorens as Investment Director, at a time when the firm continues to grow and increase its investments in charities and social enterprises.

Jorge brings to SASC over 20 years’ investment and corporate banking experience. He joins from Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) where he spent almost eight years, in senior roles looking after the bank’s investment fund and industrial sector clients. Prior to this, Jorge worked for the EBRD and for Goldman Sachs, helping clients in Financing and Mergers & Acquisitions advisory.

Jorge is also Treasurer and Trustee at two charities – Voluntary Action Islington and The Poetry Translation Centre, which he joined almost a year and half ago.

Commenting on his new role Jorge says, “I’m delighted to join SASC. The organisation and role really appealed because I wanted a change from the corporate world, and to use my skills and experience to help people and contribute to society. I have found my existing voluntary roles with charities incredibly fulfilling and rewarding. I’m really looking forward to helping charities and social enterprises secure the investments they need so they can help more of their beneficiaries and deliver greater social impact.”

Jorge will report into Mark Bickford, SASCs Chief Investment Officer. Mark says, “Jorge brings a great deal of financial experience, together with a real interest and passion to help charities generate more social impact. His professionalism and skills will be a real asset. He will work with potential investees and guide them through the process, as well as ensuring our investors get the returns they are expecting. We are delighted to welcome him to SASC and wish him every success in his new role.”
