Ben grew up in London and studied at UMIST in Manchester graduating with a BSc 1st Class Hons degree in Management Science. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1993 before moving to the corporate bond trading desks at Lehman Brothers and then UBS where he jointly ran the department. In 2002 Ben moved to the buy side working initially at credit hedge fund Green-T Asset Management as a Portfolio Manager, and then Merrill Lynch. Over a 7 year period he built a highly successful business and was the Managing Director responsible for the EMEA arm of what became the BAML Global Proprietary Trading Group. After a short spell as a partner at hedge fund BTG Pactual, Ben decided to move his career in a different direction and began his social investment journey.
