WHAG was set up as Rochdale Women’s Housing Aid Group in 1981 to provide affordable supported accommodation to homeless women aged 16-65. Since then, WHAG has added support services to allow tenants to develop independence and move into their own tenancies.

WHAG now delivers outreach and floating support services in Rochdale, Bury, Chester West and Chester in both owned and rented supported housing. The organisation works closely with local organisations and councils. SASH investment will enable WHAG to increase their support for some of the most vulnerable people in the North-West.

WHAG works with hundreds of women through multiple services on a weekly basis. The focus is on group training and service user participation, including personal safety, budgeting, training, employment, social skills, and community participation. This training helps to improve a client’s confidence, social and life skills, so that they can move into independent living.
